Job Description

Designated Person and Receptions OperativeSalary: £30,757 per annum35 hoursAbout the role:If you are looking for a rewarding engineering career with potential for personal development and promotion, this is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on providing high standards. The purpose of the role is to support the safe movement of trains, maintenance and cleaning activities throughout Heaton Depot. The role will also be responsible for carrying out reception duties on the reception roads for all depot customers. Daily; We expect you to be reliable, dedicated and hard working to ensure that cleaning is carried out to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities:*Work to the instructions of the Movements Team Leader*Undertake any work as required, subject to competence, including light maintenance tasks on train units*Carry out Designated persons duties ensuring the safe protection of all depot personnel whilst working on rail vehicles throughout the site*Operate depot protection systems as the designated person responsible for setting up the safe system of work on depot*Set up safe systems of work in areas of the sidings to protect staff from train movements as directed by the movements team leader *Heavy rubbish trains as requested by the movements team leader *Carry out light maintenance on all depot rolling stock to include, but not exhaustive, the replenishment of fuel, sand, ad-blue and water*Carry out CET tank servicing Nose end cleaning*Obtain and utilise druggets as required Winterisation tasks on site such as gritting in winter and point clearing in severe weather*Operation of plant and equipment in accordance with proficiency certification where required*Adherence to working instructions and quality procedures, including ISO 9002*Assist other members of the team as required, subject to competence*Complete necessary documentation to ensure compliance with safe methods of work and reception duty processes*Adhere to commitments outlined, and signed for, within the Safety Responsibility StatementAbout you:To fulfil this role effectively your biggest strength will need to be a genuine commitment to delivering excellent customer service. You will be an excellent communicator and team player who can liaise and work effectively with colleagues and maintain standards. You should also be able to demonstrate the following:*A natural pride in your work and an eye for detail*The ability to understand and follow instructions*Good team working skills*High level of literacy*Be flexible and adaptable to efficiently move between duties*PTS certificate or Designated Person CertificateOur training programme: Through training and continuous development you will be given the necessary knowledge and skills to deliver the highest of standards, it is therefore essential that you are willing to develop and grow with us. On your first day you will complete a depot safety brief, about the location you will be working at, you will then go on to doing a Personal Track Safety course, if it is necessary.
