Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant with a can-do attitude and a clear passion for working with children with SEND Are you considering teacher training and would like to gain some experienceIf so, then this vibrant secondary school in the Durham area would like to hear more about you! They are looking for a full time SENDLearning Support Assistant to support incoming year 7pupils with SENDin the new academic year from September. These students all have an EHCP with needs ranging from ASC, SEMH, SLCN and MLD. This school has provision to provide teacher training and have progressed many of their support staff to become teachers in a supportive and inclusive environment.You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the individuals with their development and learning in a 1:1, 2:1and in small groups within a classroom setting.
  • Providing care and enabling access to learning for all pupils.
  • Carrying out the pupil’s support programmes alongsidea small team of staff.
  • Assisting the teacher in the management of other pupils and the classroom.
    • Suitable applicants must have:
  • Enthusiasm, commitment and determination to develop student’s education.
  • Experience working with autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, global delay, speech, language and interaction needs
  • Enhanced DBS (we can provide this if not).
