Job Description

Summary Are you passionate about connecting people and places, working with communities and creating opportunities to get involved in nature and historyAs a Community and Volunteering Business Partner youll be working with and advising managers acrossLondon and the South Eastto develop confidence and capability in building lasting and valuable relationships with local communities and supporting teamsto manage and engage volunteers with our work.Your base location will be at our Scotney Castle (Kent) or Wisley (Surrey) offices with regular weekly travel to our properties and regional offices as well as the opportunity to work from home.Youll be working closely with another Volunteering and CommunityPeople Business Partner in the Region and will take a lead for our Community ambition bringing your knowledge, experience and expertise to shape and deliver our regional plans.This opportunity is a fixed term contract due to Maternity Leave and therefore will last approximately 11 months commencing in July 2022. What youll be doing Youll be working in partnership with our General Managers, Volunteering and Community leads and property teams across London, Kent and East Sussex.Youll be advising and supporting them in building their approach to meaningful community relationships,volunteering and inclusion. Youll provide advice and guidance, deliver training and coach managers. Youll work closely with regional colleagues to identify and prioritise the support you provide and will ensure your approach always has inclusion in mind.Youllbe using your experience in relationship building, stakeholder management and community partnering to build trust and develop capability and confidence.This a varied, exciting and fast paced role working within open countryside, along our coasts, in historic houses and gardens- each with their own distinct opportunities to build connections with local communities. Who were looking for Everything you do will be in harmony with our Values, ambitions and our Purpose. With a wide range of skills and experience, youll particularly need to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of consulting on and delivering different approaches to building valuable, ongoing community relationships and involvement,
  • Excellent understanding and experience of advising managers on good practice in volunteering and volunteer management
  • Experience of partnership working and participatory approaches, along with experience of innovation in volunteering and different approaches to participation
  • Experience of successfully developing and implementing new models and approaches to volunteering
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of managers, senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of social trends, different audience motivations and the external context impacting on volunteering and community relationships
  • Strong knowledge of the relevant legislative requirements relating to the role including safeguarding, access and legal distinctiveness of volunteering
  • Strong demonstrable experience of coaching, facilitation, training and development skills
  • Listening, building trust and the ability to deliver a high quality service
  • Demonstrable influencing and negotiation skills, problem solving and change management
  • Understanding of best practice and approaches for inclusion
