Job Description

Summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Building Surveyor / Architect to join our consultancy team working in and around Surrey, Sussex and Kent.As part of our thriving professional community, youll provide support and expertise in all aspects of building operations, conservation and projects. The portfolios in these counties encompass a wide range of historic buildings, of varied age, including some of the most beloved and iconic sites in the region.The National Trust Consultancy is the home to specialists in every field of our work. Youll be part of a mixed team of internal consultants (including building surveyors and architects, curators, project managers and archaeologists) and professionals workingtogether to deliver the National Trusts core conservation aims and strategic ambitions.Click here to learn more about life as a Surveyor at National Trust. What youll be doing

  • Provide specialist advice to our property teams
  • Review, develop and implement programmes of short- and long-term cyclical work
  • Commission surveys and investigative work to ensure that we understand the needs of our buildings
  • Identify, develop, plan and deliver projects that address backlog and improvement needs for our mansions and visitor infrastructure
  • Support our investments in infrastructure and new facilities for our visitors
Who were looking for As an experienced Building Surveyor / Architect bringing buildings to life is what excites you. Were looking for someone who:
  • Is a professionally qualified surveyor (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent)
  • Has a high-level financial acumen and strong experience of managing large budgets
  • Is able to demonstrate a passion for building surveying relating heritage and conservation
  • Has robust knowledge of building conservation, including procurement, maintenance, repair, and asset and contract management
  • Is experienced in delivering projects in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Is a good communicator, with the ability to build collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Has the ability to work and effectively manage your time across a busy and complex portfolio
  • This role will require regular travel. Please ensure youre able to fulfil these travel requirements. (mileage allowance will be paid for work travel)
