Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as aQuality Inspector based in Binley,Coventry. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £32,000 dependent on experience and career achievements.About theQuality Inspector role:Inspection of components throughout the manufacturing process; assisting in controlling quality on our production floor and dealing with technical issues throughout our business operations.About us:Wickman Coventry Ltd is an OEM Machine tool design and manufacturing company now in its 98th year. Your responsibilities as ourQuality Inspector will include:
  • Work effectively with the factory and suppliers to support manufacturing
  • Inspect a wide range of components and assemblies that pass through the business
  • Maintain measuring device calibration records and repair equipment where necessary
  • Assessment of quality during the build of automatic multi-spindle lathes. This will involve checking machine alignments, refurbishment of components and machine performance
  • Use the (ERP) Navision software to maintain stock levels, complete order booking and update product manufacturing statuses
  • Modification of original drawings to add missing detail, improve clarity or identify modern equivalents
  • As part of wider improvements within the company, you will be encouraged to suggest and implement positive changes to the inspection processes and systems
  • Support the improvement of current engineering processes
  • Early escalation of quality issues, making confident decisions based on data gathered during inspection
  • Ensure a high standard of document control
  • Record and take appropriate action on all non-conformances related issues
What we’re looking for in our Quality Inspector:
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present solutions to other team members and suppliers
  • Minimum of 3 years of Inspection experience within an engineering environment
  • Knowledge of material properties, machinability and metallurgy would be helpful but not essential
  • Experience using and maintaining a range of gauges, hand tools and inspection equipment is essential
  • Highly skilled at reading engineering drawings
  • Must be able to work with parts in both Metric and Imperial units
  • Experience of machinery, working in an Engineering workshop environment and undertaking industrial manufacturing processes is essential
  • Knowledge of the operation of dynamic mechanical principles and systems, such as with cams, gears, speeds will be beneficial to your role
  • Ideally a good level of ICT skills are required for this role, daily use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Dynamics Navision and Adobe Acrobat reader. An ability to use Autodesk AutoCAD would be preferable
  • The ability to prioritise activities within tight deadlines and to problem solve with minimal supervision
  • A team player, happy to be on the shop floor or in the inspection office to fulfill duties of all mentioned above
