We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Design Engineer based in Coventry. Joining us on a full-time, permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £24,000 - £48,000 per annum depending upon experience and qualifications.About us:Wickman Coventry Ltd is an OEM Machine tool, design and manufacturing, organisation, now in its 96th year. We produce our specialised range Multi-spindle CNC and automatic lathes from our Coventry factory. This is an excellent opportunityto join an ambitious and technology lead company with a diverse range of work on offer to a bright, enthusiastic individual.As our Design Engineer, you will be working on new and exciting projects, responsible for the mechanical design of machinery components used for various customers and companies around the globe. You will be designing multi-axial (up to 28axes) mechanical systems as a key part of the complete product development strategy. You may be required to travel to customer/ supplier sites whilst carrying out your duties.Responsibilities as our Design Engineer will include:- Working through the full design process, from conceptual designs through to production- Creating detailed design of all mechanical components with feasibility, costing and time being considered- Generating CAD models- Creating engineering drawings for manufacture and supporting assembly drawings- Liaising and potentially visiting suppliers to discuss design ideas, feasibility, and manufacturing techniques- Liaising and meeting with customers as required- Managing day-to-day workload efficiently and reporting to the Technical Manager daily- Assisting on the shop floor with designs to ensure assembly drawings are accurate and gathering knowledge from the engineers of potential areas of concern with the assemblies for continuous improvement mentality- Reacting in a timely manner to any design/development processes to enable quick decisions- Demonstrating knowledge of materials involved in the machine tool industry and specifying correct materials for designs according to their application/durability/ease of manufacture- Working closely with the Quality Inspection department to ensure new designs are proven, tolerances are realistic and material choice for manufacture is relevant for the application- Performing any other reasonable duties that may be required for the business from time to timeWhat were looking for in our Design Engineer:- Qualified to HNC level or above in an engineering / technical discipline or able to demonstrate capability through experience- Significant experience in manufacturing/engineering environment- Good know-how of machine tools/machinery (desirable)- Proficient in the use of PTC Creo Parametric (other packages may be considered) with at least 3 years experience- Efficient housekeeping when using design data storage software (Design Data Manager (DDM) desirable)- Demonstrate high-quality engineering drawing practices- Proficient in geometric tolerancing- Ability to apply engineering logic to design ideasIn return as our Design Engineer you will receive the following benefits: - 32 days holiday (including statutory days)- Contributory pension scheme- Cycle to work scheme- Company workwearIf youre looking for a new challenge, please click apply now to be considered as our Design Engineer, we look forward to hearing from you!
