Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join my clients team as an Electro Mechanical Service Engineer.Based in Coventry this is a full-time, permanent position working 40 hours per week plus enhanced overtime. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £30,000 - £50,000 per annum inclusive of overtime and service bonus payments, depending upon experienceand how quickly you are able to get out to customers and service machines.About the business:They are an OEM Machine tool design and manufacturing company now in its 97th year. They produce a specialised range of Multi-Spindle CNC and Automatic Lathes from their factory based in Coventry that are distributed to customers globally.They are looking to expand their Service Department to meet customer demands and requirements and therefore this is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, ambitious and fast-paced company with a diverse range of work on offer to a bright and enthusiasticindividual as a Service EngineerAs a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance of machines & the associated magazine type bar loaders at customer sites worldwide offering corrective and preventative maintenance solutions to keep the machines in good running order toremain efficient and reliable.Responsibilities as a Electro/ Mechanical Service Engineer will include:

  • Responding to breakdowns and diagnose faults
  • Inspecting and reviewing machines to evaluate the issue and finding a resolution to get the machine functioning and back into production
  • Conducting equipment surveys and then report of the findings to obtain an overview of the equipment condition, highlighting areas where remedial work is recommended
  • Carrying out planned scheduled maintenance at customer sites
  • Supporting and delivering customer training for preventative maintenance procedures and educating operators on effective equipment use
  • Conducting quality and safety checks on the machines
  • Developing and maintaining good relationships with customers and communicating their feedback and plans for product development to offer recommendations
  • Working primarily outside of the company premises with frequent regular travel. As they have international customers, you will be required to work outside of the UK
  • Being willing and available with minimal notice to work away both within the UK and internationally for several months of the year, potentially for 2/3 weeks at a time. This could be on a continual basis during projects
What were looking for in our Service Engineer:
  • A positive attitude and demonstrate a willingness to learn
  • A base level of understanding in Electrical/ Mechanical/ Hydraulics & Pneumatics - including PLC Logic & fault Finding.
  • The ability to work well and remain professional when under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator with excellent customer service skills as you will be the face of the company during customer visits
  • Good troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Efficient and able to demonstrate good organisation and the ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • Confident to work independently using your own initiative without direct supervision but also as a team player to work alongside colleagues to complete tasks
