Job Description

We pride ourselves on the quality of our workmanship and work closely with our customers to ensure they get exactly what theyneed.Hartley Botanic is the leading supplier of luxury Greenhouses and based in our factory in Greenfield.Role BriefThe Toolmaker is responsible for the effective maintenance of tooling requirements for production of the luxury brand greenhouses and glasshouses and to maximise productivity.This is a key role within our production operations who will work closely with Managers, Supervisors and Operatives. This role will require strong engineering skills to ensure that we work together in finding solutions and improvements to meet demand ofthe growing business.Key Responsibilities

  • To be capable of using all Tooling machinery including surface grinder, lathe and milling machine where required.
  • To respond to tooling related breakdowns as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • To manufacture tooling and ancillary components etc. Either from engineering drawings or the copying of existing parts.
  • To perform tasks for the repair/modification of all production tooling. MUST be experienced and conversant in the manufacture, operation and maintenance of fly press and power press tooling.
  • To assist maintenance as and when required.
  • To trouble shoot when responding to production problems and breakdowns.
  • To carry tasks out to a high degree of workmanship in an environment which strives for continuous improvement.
  • To keep the department clean and tidy at all times reporting any hazards to the operations Manager.
  • To be responsible for your own safety by performing tasks in a safe and timely manner in accordance with Company Health and Safety Rules and Working Practices.(Health and Safety Charter of Rules).
  • Communications - This role has a need for a strong communicator who and advise management on tooling requirements.

The Successful Applicant
  • Strong background and understanding of Tooling machinery including surface grinder, lathe and milling machine where required.
  • Able to demonstrated ability to repair and modify tooling as required.
  • Willingness to learn
  • Able to read engineering drawings
  • Strong communication skills to be able to trouble shoot and problem solve.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Understand the importance of good work housekeeping regimes.
  • To work in line with health and safety policies and practices.
  • Engineering qualifications or qualified by experience.
