Job Description

SEN Primary Teacher

  • Job Type: Long-term / Permanent
  • Location: Near Ely, Cardiff
  • Salary: Competitive
We are seeking a SEN Primary Teacher for a fantastic opportunity in a school that caters to young children between the ages of 4 - 11 with a wide range of learning difficulties. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children anddemonstratestrong empathy and understanding, which are crucial for this role. The school offers a supportive environment and is looking for a teacher who is patient, engaging, and committed to making a positive impact on their pupils’ educational journey. NQTs are welcometo apply but must have suitable experience within SEN settings. Day to day of the role:
  • Support pupils one-on-one and in small groups, focusing on building confidence, life skills, and academic abilities in reading, writing, and listening.
  • Work closely with a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants to understand and support each child according to their individual Educational Healthcare Plan (EHCP).
  • Create a nurturing and understanding environment to help non-verbal and verbally challenged children communicate and thrive.
  • Uphold the school’s ethos, which has been recognised as ‘Excellent’ by ESTYN, ensuring it is lived out daily through each pupil’s experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience with or a strong understanding of the needs of children with disabilities and learning difficulties.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working within the Special Needs sector.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other staff members.
  • Must be compliant with Reed’s registration process, including possessing a DBS, good references, and registration with the EWC.
