SEN Teaching AssistantJob Type: Long term supply, Temp (potential permanency for the right candidate)Location: Ely, CardiffPay: £80-£90 per dayStart date: September 2023We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs and ensuring they receive the best educationalexperience possible.Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special needs, including those with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), or physical disabilities.
Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
Support students in their academic, social, and emotional development, promoting their independence and self-esteem.
Adapt teaching materials and activities to meet the unique needs of each student, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.
Help students with personal care tasks, such as toileting, feeding, and mobility, as required.
Collaborate with the teacher and other professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists, to address individual student needs effectively.
Monitor and record student progress, behavior, and achievements, and provide feedback to the teacher and parents/guardians.
Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment, promoting positive behavior and respectful interactions among students.
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities to enhance your knowledge and skills in special education.

Qualifications:

Previous experience working with individuals with special needs is highly desirable.
A passion for working with children and making a positive difference in their lives.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, teachers, parents/guardians, and other professionals.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
Knowledge of various special educational needs and relevant teaching strategies.
Ability to adapt and modify teaching approaches and materials based on individual student needs.
Basic understanding of behavior management techniques and strategies.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Relevant certifications or training in special education or related fields will be an advantage.
