Playing akey role in developing an effective Infrastructure Services strategy that underpins the strategic objectives of the force you will develop and implement a plan to deliver that strategy over a 5-year financial planning cycle.Agile working patterns apply to this position where informal agile working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.What do I need Educated to degree level (or equivalent relevant experience) Demonstrable experience of defining an Infrastructure strategy. Demonstrable understanding of Network, Server and Storage service provision. Demonstrable experience of managing and leading the performance of large IT suppliers. Demonstrable experience of managing and leading a significant digital service. Financial experience of managing large technology budgets. A proven track record in service development and achieving improvements in standards and performance while reducing costs. Demonstrable experience of running a programme of Digital change projects delivering new functionality. Extensive experience of running a mission critical, 247 IT service, preferably in an emergency services environment. Extensive experience of leading and developing multidisciplinary technical teams. Good experience of programme and project management methodologies and structures. Has a deep understanding of the IT industry and the implications of emerging technologies for the wider business environment and keeps themselves up to date on current developments.The Role:As the Infrastructure Service Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of Network, Server and Storage support services, ensuring that incidents and problems are identified and resolved quickly and effectively, that life cycle management activity is undertaken to support the 5 year refresh cycle for all infrastructure equipment, that patching and upgrade activity is carried out as planned to maintain appropriate security accreditations and that service requests for Infrastructure Service changes are considered, designed and implemented where appropriate and following change management principals.The force have and continue to invest significantly in on-premises infrastructure services with significant investment in SDWAN technology committed to in 2023/24 alongside a programme of virtualised server refresh, telephony services refresh and backupdevice upgrade and refresh.What will I be doingYou will be managing 3 functions each with its own small team of technical experts, Network Services, Server and Backup Services and Storage and Virtualisation Services. Each function runs a set of BAU activities (Incident and problem management), Life CycleManagement activities (patching and refresh) and Project activities (Change Requests). Your role will be manage the delivery of these services using the resources and budget available to meet agreed service levels.Terms and ConditionsVetting Level - Management Vetting (MV)Applicants must be a resident of the UK for a minimum period of 5 years to ensure vetting checks can be successfully performed.
