Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a talented Senior Engineer to join thebigword family based in Leeds/ Remote.Please note that roles are currently working from home however in the future there will be a requirement to attend the Leeds office.The RoleKey responsibilities of the position include:

  • Provide expert development skills to deliver first class solutions.
  • Lead by example and support less experienced members of the development team.
  • Review code for accuracy, functionality, optimisation and reuse.
  • Keep up to date with latest software development technologies and practices.
  • Assist in the technical direction and future state architecture for Wordsynk products and remain aligned with business plans and objectives.
  • Deliver high-quality solutions that are fit for purpose, robust, scalable and secure, as well as being delivered on time.
  • Work with peers across departmental and team boundaries to ensure effective knowledge sharing to support the continued improvement and consistent delivery of high-quality solutions and processes.
  • Assist product teams in the development and sizing of application features and requirements.
  • Document solutions where appropriate to improve system knowledge and improve effectiveness of application support
Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:Essential requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field, or similar qualification.
  • Expert .net (Framework and Core) development skills with demonstrable full-stack experience, including ASP.net, C#, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, etc.
  • Broad understanding of core web technologies and extensive knowledge of developing web-based applications and services.
  • Thorough understanding and experience of developing robust, scalable and secure software solutions.
  • Experienced developing and integrating RESTful web services.
  • Good understanding of microservice and service orientated architecture and patterns.
  • Passionate about software development with drive to continuously improve.
  • Proven experience of delivering cloud native solutions preferably using Microsoft Azure cloud technologies.
  • Extensive experience of data persistence using relational and document databases, associated development frameworks and ORMs.
  • Track record of delivering complex solutions to exceed expectations and delight users.
