Job Description

Why join usOur global team is growing, and we are lookingfor a Senior Consultant to work within the Marine Consultancy team as part of APEMs Marine Division.With the support of the teamyou will work on a wide range of marine projects including coastal infrastructure developments, offshore renewables, power stations, water industry projects, desk-based reviews and protected site monitoring and assessments.Focusingon benthic ecology, you will work closely with consultants in other teams specialising in a range of disciplines including fisheries, ornithology and water quality.We are focused on people development and you will be encouraged to attend or present at marine conferences / events and undertake training to develop your skills and expand your areas of expertise, giving you the chance to influence how we best meet ourclient needs in a growing and ever-changing market.About the roleThis is a diverse role, where you will be involved in tendering activity and all aspects of project delivery including marine ecology survey design; stakeholder and client engagement; data review/data collation and data analysis and interpretation.Authoring and coordinating delivery for a wide range of ecological assessments (e.g. scoping reports, EIA, HRA reports, WFD assessments, MCZ assessments, Biosecurity Plans) is an essential part of the role and prior experience is advantageous although trainingcan be provided within the role. In addition, you will have management responsibilities for a variety of marine projects ensuring delivery to a diverse client base encompassing developers, consultancies, energy and utility companies and environmental regulators.You will also have the opportunity to provide mentoring, support and guidance to consultant-grade scientists.This is primarily a desk-based role, with some possibility of fieldwork.About youWith a degree inmarine ecology or a related discipline, you will be technically competent and have an excellent understanding of benthic marine ecology and protected species and habitats. You will have experience within a similar role and be able to demonstratea detailed knowledge of policy/legislation relevant to marine ecology conservation and its application for marine ecology assessments. A secondary degree within a relevant subject is advantageous. You will have a solid understanding of marine surveying andreporting and ideally have experience of survey design and coordination including the management of subcontractors.Proficiency in GIS and statistical software such as PRIMER would be advantageous.As a Senior Consultant you will have a good commercial awareness relevant to marine consultancy, excellent written and verbal communication skills and project management experience with a track record of delivering projects to time and budget.
