You will work within ourgrowing terrestrial division of environmental planning and ecology experts, supporting the delivery of Nationally Significant Infrastructure (NSIP) projects and national/major projects (Scotland) and Developments of national significance (DNS) (Wales).In return we offer a unique and exciting opportunity to help shape the evolution of a small but ambitious team within a people first consulting business. With the support of an experienced and passionate Director and a wider team of consultants, you will influence the blueprint for the business going forward.About the roleWe are looking for you to:

  • Assist with recruiting and establishing a terrestrial team to support or lead on EIAs and environmental planning projects;
  • Undertake the role of an EIA Project Manager. You will be responsible for authoring and/or reviewing chapters and ensuring that all work required to inform the environmental reporting are carried out on time, on budget and that recommendations are madein line with the current regulations and guidance;
  • Manage your team and ensure they are resourced accordingly;
  • Where necessary identify and engage 3rd party suppliers;
  • Attend client meetings to understand requirements and maintain strong communications and briefings; and
  • As the business requires, you will assist in delivery of other related environmental assessments and business development opportunities, commensurate with experience and technical understanding.
About youYou will be excited rather than phased by the opportunities presented by working in a small but rapidly growing consultancyyou will be expected to pitch-in and demonstrate a flexible attitude. A thorough understanding of the UK policy and regulatory frameworkfor EIA is required. We are looking for a subject matter expert in the delivery of EIA work, including screening, scoping and end reporting. Ideally, you will either currently be a Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP) or Practitioner of IEMA (PIEMA)or alternatively be close to achieving this status, which APEM would be happy to support. It would also be highly advantageous if you have experience in providing EIA work for NSIPs and major projects including renewable projects.In addition, we are looking for someone who approaches environmental protection and consulting with passion and integrity. You will be a strong project manager and be able to mentor others around you to deliver high quality work. Experience of 3rd partysupplier management will also be beneficial; you will need to evidence, during interview, that you have worked with multi-disciplinary teams, sourced suppliers, negotiated contracts (perhaps with the support of Contract experts) and terms of work and reviewedwork against these commercial agreements.This role is offered on a remote basis with ad-hoc visits to APEM offices for meeting or to client sites, we are open to you being based anywhere in the UK.
