Job Description

Job Title: Safety Improvement PartnersSalary:Competitive and Rewarding + BenefitsHours: 37.5Location:UK or Ireland (Flexible)(Hybrid)The HSEQ department provides a central support function to all APEM Group business areas as well as managing the business HSEQ management systems. The core function of the department is to support the safety of our people, promote the protection of the environmentand implement systems that drive quality.The key function of the Safety Improvement Partner is to provide dedicated support to identified business areas on a day-to-day basis. To deliver this role, building great relationships with the teams and understanding their challenges and supporting thedevelopment of effective solutions is essential.What success looks like in this roleEmbedding and maintaining a proactive approach to safety where everyone understands their own responsibilities and safety is integral to all decision making.As an individual, the acknowledgment that you are the safety lead for the business areas that you support and a key stakeholder in business decisions.Key Responsibilities

  • Development and integration of HSEQ group policy, procedures, processes, in line with APEM standards, ISO standards (45001, 9001 and 14001) legislation, and business needs
  • Deliver a robust HSEQ audit and legal compliance assurance programme and actively drive HSEQ initiatives and continuous improvement
  • Develop winning submissions for PQQs and Tenders and ensure commitments and requirements are embedded within successful project plans.
  • Provide effective professional HSEQ support, guidance, and influence to business divisions.
  • Monitor, investigate and report on safety incidents to ensure lessons are learned and drive continuous improvement
  • Provide expert HSEQ input on business wide initiatives engaging with key stakeholders, to drive HSEQ agenda, quality, standards and reduce risk
  • Develop, drive and support health and safety tools, communications and campaigns including overarching or business division specific risk areas in consultation with necessary stakeholders
  • Consult, proactively manage change and seek out ways to improve HSEQ delivery
  • Monitor new legislation and implement any requirements, ensuring the business is aware of the impacts
  • Management and facilitation of health and safety improvement projects including psychological safety programmes and health and well-being
  • To carry out any additional activities that may be reasonably required or requested
  • To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others; make use of the tools, equipment, training and resources; and actively engage with colleagues at all levels to contribute to the continuous improvement of health and safety management.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience/QualificationsEssential
  • Degree qualified in a relevant Health and Safety / Engineering subject or NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent supported by practical health and safety experience
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in an H&S role within one or more of the following industries: construction, aviation, marine, environmental assessment/consultancy and engineering.
  • An ability to adapt and diversify into other Sectors.
  • An understanding of complex business requirements e.g health and safety, legal risks, and an ability to prioritise and respond appropriately to changing demands
  • Working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation in the UK and Ireland
  • Influencing and persuasion skills with experience applying these skills
  • Numeracy, Literacy
  • Commercial Awareness and stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent decision making, communication, presentation, and coaching skills
  • CMIOSH or working towards
Desirable
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in an H&S role within one or more of the following industries: construction, aviation, marine, environmental assessment/consultancy and engineering.
  • Working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation outwith the UK and Ireland
  • Project management experience with ability to manage numerous projects involving stakeholder engagement, requirements, budget control and specified deliverables
  • Interest and / or general experience in operating the commercial /general aviation sector and an understanding of CAA requirements.
