Job Description

Northern Diver International has been established for over 40 years. We manufacture a diverse range of diving equipment for military, commercial, offshore, sport and rescue applications worldwide.We have seen year on year growth and have further exciting expansion plans in place, as a result we need to recruit an Electronics Engineer to join our team.Why work for usThis role is based in our office, in Appley Bridge where great ideas are born. Filled with our vibrant and can-do attitude team, we showcase our passion and determination to deliver the best we can for our customers.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Analogue electronics

  • Linear power supply design including thermal design for heat sinks
  • Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) design including thermal design for heat sinks and switching components. Appreciation of noise and EMI emissions
  • Battery management for both rechargeable and non-rechargeable
  • Operational amplifier design including low pass filter, high pass filter, voltage-frequency converter, strain gauge amplifiers
  • Small signal analogue design with appreciation for noise reduction through PCB layout
  • Sensor interface for mechanical switch, magnetic switch, temperature, humidity and pressure
  • Power output driver design for analogue drive control including Class A, AB, and D architectures
  • Understanding of design for harsh environment, particularly for wide temperature operation
    • Digital electronics
  • Design of high speed circuits including PCB track inductance and capacitance influences
  • Thermal management and design for minimum power use
  • Power drivers for resistive and inductive loads including thermal management
  • Digital interfaces including RS232, SPI, I2C, one-wire and LVDS
  • Design of long wire interfaces for remote communication
  • ADC and DAC design
    • SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Hands-on electronics experience
  • Knowledge of DVL’s, SONARS, Underwater Communications would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of basic Analog components / circuits and operational amplifier circuits
  • Knowledge in CAD Schematic layout and CAD PCB design
  • Knowledge of CE requirements for electronic products
  • Schematic diagram production
  • Software documentation
  • Initial project cost and time estimation
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing company or similar is preferable
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and safely alone
  • Full UK Driving Licence
