ST20 OQJRole PurposeA Blender is responsible for blending ingredients to a specific recipe in order to produce a finished product ready to be packed. The role holder will be responsible for the operation and day to day running of a blending line. They will maintain correct throughput to achieve required production targets and completing necessary paperwork.Operators will be required to be flexible in their approach and undertake a variety of duties across a wide range of processes. Blending Operators should strive to support Shift Management to achieve the required output to meet our customer requirements. You will adhere to stringent Health and Safety, Food Safety, and Quality standards & procedures, ensuring allergen controls and efficiency targets are met.The role is subject to shift patterns that may change from time to time subject to operational requirements.What You’ll be Doing:

  • Responsible for leading, motivating and organising an individual production line to ensure daily production targets (efficiency & yield) are achieved and customer orders are fully satisfied to the highest quality standards
  • Ensure adherence to both Knighton Foods policy and all laws and regulations pertaining to Food Hygiene and Health& Safety.
  • Ensure that all finished product meets customer specifications, positive release product as required.
  • Accountable for product quality and to ensure that quality is everyone’s responsibility.
  • Maintain audit ready Food Safety & Quality Management System due diligence records
  • Promote a Health & Safety, quality focused and driven culture and to monitor your work area to ensure the workplace is safe and a ‘clean as you go’ policy is maintained at all times
  • Ensure all daily checks and documentation are completed in an accurate and timely manner. To include line safe start-up checks, handover and H &S.
  • Provide communication to all concerned as required, make sure detailed handovers are provided.
  • Monitoring equipment and outputs to minimise waste, improve reliability and increasing the efficient use of resources and limiting down time
  • Required to attend all training required for this role and demonstrates flexibility in being available to attend all training, supports department with carrying out varied tasks and ensures own knowledge and skills are kept up to date, deliver training to new and existing staff
  • Hours per week: ‘12 hour’ shift pattern, 3 week rotating, plus 10 scheduled Saturday shifts throughout the year.   • Understands responsibilities to work safely and considers the safety of others
  • Good understanding of written and spoken English, Maths & IT
  • HR Policies- understands own responsibilities to treat others fairly and equally
  • Minimum of 2-year previous production experience working within Operations / Production Environment
  • Good knowledge and understanding of quality systems and procedures.
  • Mechanically minded with a strong work history in production
  • Strong motivational skills with an ability to drive improvements in terms of machinery and performance
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace
  • Desirable
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene
  • HACCP level 2
  • GCSE level and equivalent in Maths & English grade C and above
  • Experience of working within the food industry
  • Previous experience working within a food manufacturing / Packaging environment
  • Experience of SAP or other stock management system
