Summary We are looking for a philanthropy expert who will help to lead the thinking in the South West over how major donors and Trusts/Foundations can best help us achieve our ambitions in the outdoors for people and for nature. You’ll be a strategic thinker who will collaborate widely with other fundraisers, regional colleagues and our teams on the ground to build a plan across numbers of our sites in the region that will enable us to grow support for this important work. You’llbring innovation to help us reach new donors and supporters and have a deep understanding of the wider fundraising context. Alongside the planning, you’ll be working with existing and potential donors and developing compelling cases for support plus preparingcultivation and stewardship plans to build lasting partnerships with some of the UK’s biggest funders and philanthropists.A hybrid working role, based 40% at one of our South West Hub Offices (Bristol, Exeter, Tisbury or Bodmin) and up to 60% working from home. **Internally this role is know as Philanthropy Consultant What its like to work here You’ll become part of our internal consultancy of experts supporting the special places that the National Trust looks after. We are organised in a matrix structure of mixeddiscipline teams and you’ll work closely with a wide range of passionate and experienced people including professionals in growing support, curation & experiences, land and nature and buildings. At the National Trust, we have worked to protect places of Historic Interest and Natural Beauty for over 120 years. We look after a quarter of a million hectares of land and countryside, 775 miles of coastline, and thousands of archaeological monuments andhistoric buildings – and that’s an expensive task. We are incredibly grateful for the support our 5 million members but, as membership only covers a third of our costs, we also rely on donations and legacies to enable our vital conservation work. What youll be doing This is a fixed-term part-time role for 12 months and will focus on developing our philanthropy work in the region to deliver the organisation’s ambition for the outdoors. Nature is at breaking point in the UK and the scale and speed ofthe climate emergency is breath-taking. As the largest private landowner in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, we have the landholding to create change at scale. In partnership with our supporters and other environmental groups, we need to act fast to createmore space for wildlife, sequester more carbon and help nature recover. We believe strongly in the huge benefits people get from spending time in nature and are working hard to bring millions of people closer to the natural world. In the South West, thismeans providing brilliant experiences at our coastal sites as well as across our woodlands, moorlands, parklands and farmland. It means increasing access for our urban communities as well thinking about how to remove barriers so that everyone can enjoy outdoorspaces. Your work to develop and implement our plans for philanthropy will help us achieve these aims for Land and Nature. However, you may also be called upon to support on other areas such as cultural heritage if needed. Who were looking for
