Job Description

We are recruiting a Hardware Team Leader to join our Team based in West Yorkshire.What will you be doing in this roleAs a Hardware Team Leader at Tunstall, youll be responsible for the full lifecycle product development (Cradle to grave), from requirements analysis through to design and test of high quality and robust designs. You will also take responsibilityfor the technical leadership of a small team of engineers (5-10 people).The Ideal candidate:You will have an in depth understanding electrical engineering and design and be a proactive individual, keen to solve problems and have a focus on supporting your team.Key skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in a senior or lead engineer role
  • Experience in a technical leadership role with people management responsibilities
  • Experience in developing embedded real-time systems, low power and mains powered products, wireless communications system
  • Design ownership
  • Standard interfacing circuitsDDR, UART, USB, ADCs, DACs, I2C, Ethernet etc.
  • Extremely efficient battery powered portable design, including charge controllers, DC/DC, PMIC
  • Low level analogue design, miscellaneous interfacing circuitry etc
  • Analogue signal filter design; low pass, high pass and band pass active filters
  • Design for EMC, ESD, LVD, CE, safety approvals
  • RF design appreciation
  • Schematic capture using CAD (Altium preferred)
  • Design documentation (requirement specs, design documents, TCF, test specs, etc.)

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
  • Full lifecycle development, from requirements analysis through to design and test of high quality and robust designs (Cradle to grave)
  • Leadership of hardware development team (UK), including task management, performance management, coaching and development
  • Lead, and contribute to, formal design and project reviews
  • Create work breakdown and estimates for new projects and deliver to agreed timescales
  • Robust hardware design using microprocessors, cellular communications, GPS / wireless communication, embedded real-time systems, and low power products
  • Working alongside Mechanical and Firmware design engineers
  • Design for volume manufacture
  • Design for test & service
  • Product certification, EMC, Safety, CE etc.
  • Preparation of product documentation
