Animal CarerWould you enjoy a hands-on role working with cats and dogs Are you keen to make the world a better place for pets using Science and Research then we may have the position for you.Our Unit Specialists/Animal Carers play a key part in delivering data and as part of the research programme, with the bonus of getting to work with cats and dogs daily, due to recent movements within the company, we have a vacancy for a dog or cat unit specialist.Please note, you must be confident working about high volumes of Dogs and Cats, and be happy to work with either.Pay rate:Starting at £11.88ph, rising to £12.60ph after successful completion of a 4 month probationary period (inclusive of shift allowance)Hours:First month Monday to Friday 8-4 while training, then doing 8-4pm or 6.30am-2.30pm & 9am till 5pm on a rotating basis that will include weekends and bank holidays.The Job.As a unit specialist, the primary purpose of your role is to deliver research data, while providing care for our dogs or cats, while Health and Safety is at the forefront of everything.The role will offer you the opportunity to be directly responsible for the quality of data, whilst developing your knowledge of animal behaviour and training while working with our behavioural experts, on-going training workshops are also available.You do not need to have any animal experience, you will gain all the training required in the role, but having a passion for animals is a must.KEY OUTPUTS/SKILLS REQUIREDIn this role you will:- Deliver research tasks (collecting data/biological samples)- Conflict managements is a key skill for this role- Be a safety/quality custodian, actively identify and propose improvements- Care for our dogs/cats through husbandry and training- Experience in working with Microsoft Office- Work weekends and bank holidays on a rota pattern- Be prepared to continue learning new skills and developing within your role.- Be happy to work alongside EITHER dogs or cats, depending on the business need.QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIESExperience -
