Job Description

Purpose: The Volunteer Support Co-ordinator is required to contribute to the success of the Volunteer Support Department in its aim to deliver a first-class volunteering experience. You will play a key role in developing and promoting the volunteering programme across the BHS by leading on the recruitment, induction and support of new volunteers, supporting volunteer training, coordinating and preparing volunteer communications and helping to deliver national campaigns.Reporting to: Head of Volunteer SupportKey Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Manage new volunteering applications and enquiries
  • o To deliver induction training and support to new volunteers into the BHS using technology or face to faceo To promote volunteering with the BHS and support the recruitment of volunteers to our roles across the UKo To develop and deliver volunteer induction training plus associated resources
  • Support the delivery of volunteer training throughout the UK, either face to face or virtually
  • Be the first point of contact for volunteers and provide excellent response and customer service in volunteer support
  • o Work closely with wider departments to identify key areas for improvement and focussed recruitment driveso Be responsible for dedicated Volunteering and Committee sections of the website, ensuring they are kept up to date including revising and updating resources as necessary to keep it relevant and currento Support the delivery of national campaigns requiring the support of our volunteerso Source, write and edit content for our communications streams including BHS publications, volunteer newsletters, web pages and social media, liaising closely with our Communications Team;o Manage the departmental GDPR responsibilities associated with volunteer data.o To gather and analyse the views of potential, existing and ex volunteers on matters relating to the BHS volunteering programme.
  • Assist the Head of Volunteer Support in the development of volunteer programme materials and resources;
  • o Identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to the Head of Volunteer Supporto Contribute to the success of the BHS volunteer programme with a particular focus on volunteer recruitment and trainingGeneral Responsibilities:o Respond to enquiries/applications/compliments and complaints from existing and new BHS volunteerso Represent the BHS at meetings and events as required by the Head of Volunteer Supporto Undertake any other duties as requestedPerson Specification: (Essential/Desirable)Essentialo Graduate calibreo Proven experience of volunteer/people/hr coordinationo Excellent customer service attitudeo Confident communicatoro Proven experience of effective communications/newsletters/websiteo Enthusiastic and self-motivated with excellent team-working skillso Strong attention to detailo Good IT skills and social media/website knowledgeo Excellent presentation skillso Experience of developing and delivering trainingo Experience and awareness of GDPR/H&S/SafeguardingDesirableo Experience of a CRM system, or equivalento Knowledge of charities/working with volunteerso Knowledge of equine industry or animal welfareo Knowledge of good practise in working with volunteerso Understanding of volunteering and the lawo Flexible attitude to travelling around the UK and to undertaking weekend and evening work Required skills
