As a Diesel Calibration Engineer with this global automotive consultancy you will be responsible for optimizing the calibration of the diesel engine and powertrain. Your objective will be to ensure that all target criteria are met, and that the powertrain works to its full efficiency in all operating conditions. The role involves planning, preparation and supervision of related vehicle tests, assessment and documentation of test results and delivery of calibrations. You may also be required to participate in vehicle test development trips.Please be aware that this is an interim role initially for a fixed term period of approx. 8 months from May 2021 to December 2021 however this is subject to review and may be extended.YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:• Planning and execution of an engine or vehicle development program• Calibration dataset development in-line with attribute targets• Dataset validation for all ambient conditions both in facility and in territory• Analysis of results and preparation of recommendations• Liaison and reporting to various functions within the organisationYOUR PROFILE:Essential:• BEng in Mechanical/Automotive or related Engineering discipline• Experience within the automotive industry• Good knowledge of diesel combustion engine fundamentals• Good working knowledge of EMS and related tools and software• Good knowledge of diesel exhaust after-treatment systems• Excellent inter-personal and communication skills• Capable of working independently as well as part of large and small teamsPreferable:• Experience in diesel combustion and emissions calibration• Knowledge of data analysis tools such as AVL Concerto or equivalentPreferred:• Masters or PhD in specific subject area preferredPackage:-- £35-40k (pro rata for 8 months) -- Pension -- Private health care-- Life Assurance -- 22 days holidays + 8 stat daysTiro is a specialist Employment Agency and Employment Business assisting with both contract and permanent opportunities in automotive, aerospace, electronics, defence & pharmaceutical engineering & manufacturing.
