Job Description

Our client is part of a diversified international group, a leading manufacturer of specialist nonwoven textiles with a long-established reputation in its markets as a pioneer in technical, solutions-led products. The business is firmly positioned as a manufacturerof added value in technical nonwovens and is able to offer a unique set of technical skills, knowledge and experience which allows often complex product requirements to be met effectively. Located in Lancashire at the heart of the UK textiles industry and with a long history in the manufacture of nonwovens, the business continues to lead theway in its servicing of their target technical markets and provision of value-added products.Key to the delivery of the planned growth is the appointment of a first-class Procurement Manager to manage effective supply chains and ensure raw material availability. The ideal candidate will have extensive procurement & materials supply chain managementexperience in relevant manufacturing settings, ideally including Far East sourcing as well as UK & European logistics planning experience. Fibre/textiles experience would also be highly advantageous however, key tasks relate to raw material pricing & sourcing,tracking systems and reporting (via Navison ERP). Ideally educated to degree or HND level in a relevant technical subject, you will be a pragmatic, highly organised materials procurement professional looking to work as part of a small, dedicated managementteam in delivering great products and service to new and existing customers alike.   • Plan and organise an effective materials & procurement function to deliver raw materials to plan
  • Develop new supply chain options to ensure optimal cost management and reduce material costs
  • Manage key supply chain relationships (inc. Far East) as well as UK & European haulage & distribution
  • Manage stock levels of materials and finished goods, matching stocks to production schedules
  • Maintain & develop effective processes (inc. invoicing & auditing) & provide valuable management data
  • Monitor raw material markets and costs, anticipating supply & pricing issues to minimise and control costs
  • Review current ERP (Navison) performance and develop and recommend future requirements
Candidate Profile Requirements:
  • Structured, disciplined and methodical manufacturing materials procurement professional
  • International sourcing (ideally inc. Far East) experience, plus UK & Europe logistics knowledge
  • Textiles manufacturing procurement ideal (possibly including technical textiles / nonwovens / fibres)
  • Technical approach and mindset, ideally with a relevant engineering or textiles focussed degree or HND
  • Data-driven, can develop valuable reports and interrogate data to inform key management decisions
  • Team leader & team player - leads from the front and collaborates effectively across functions
