Job Description

Our client is now looking for a Specialist Housing Officer to join their busy team!They are currently looking for a Specialist Housing Officer who will cover Gypsy and Traveller sites in Bath/Bristol/Newport and some of North Somerset. They will also support the delivery of services across our wider team, including working with tenantsin HMOs and general needs accommodation. Whilst experience of working with the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller community is helpful, it is not essential to fulfil this role.The Company welcome job applications from people of all backgrounds and strongly encourage applications from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people. They will offer an interview to applicants of Gypsy, Roma or Traveller background who meet the essential criteriafor the role.The role is for 30 - 37 hours per week. They are flexible on the exact hours which can be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.SALARY: £26,000 to £29,000 (pro rata) per annum dependant on experienceSpecialist Housing Officer Duties:

  • Managing rent accounts and ensuring their residents access relevant means tested benefits and support wherever needed.
  • Reletting tenancies and pitches ensuring void works are completed and re-letting is undertaken in a timely manner.
  • Conducting regular estate and site inspections and acting on the findings within agreed timescales.
  • Working in partnership with local providers to get the best outcomes for their residents.
  • Working with residents and local authorities to resolve reports of anti-social behaviour.
  • Deal effectively with complaints.
  • Deal with any breaches of pitch licences in line with our procedures.
Specialist Housing Officer Requirements:
  • Significant experience in a social housing or similar role
  • Experience of arrears management, understanding of welfare benefits and promotion of income maximisation.
  • Understanding of working with diverse communities.
  • Experience of managing and developing respectful, productive and supportive relationships with residents, colleagues, managers and external agencies and stakeholders.
  • A full driving licence, access to own transport and business use insurance
