Job Description

Process Controller x 3ROCKWOOL UK are facing unprecedented demand, and as a result are looking to introduce a 4th shift to their production team.Due to our expansion, we now require 3 Process Controllers, to each take ownership of a specific team and area on our production line.Job Purpose & Scope

  • To carry out activities under the supervision of the Shift Manager
  • To manufacture stone wool insulation in accordance with the factory instructions for the Charging Plant and Cupola, according to the technical specification.
  • Full sperviosry responsibility for teh area and the team.
  • To ensure a safe and clean work environment within the area.
The 3 areas of the production line are Cupola, Curing Oven and Packaging - Please see area specific details below:CupolaThe processRaw materials are stored, mixed with coke, and charged to the cupola furnace.Preheated air produced by a gas fired combustion is blown into the furnace.This provides the energy to ignite the coke and convert the raw materials into melt.Melt from the furnace is directed onto a spinning machine where the melt is converted to fibres.Binder & water are added to the fibres, which are blown into the spinning chamber, where they are collected and transferred to a conveyor in a thin layer called the primary fleeceResponsibilities
  • Checks the charging weigh belts every shift to ensure the raw materials are being weighed correctly and the fines are being removed
  • Checks the combustion system, cupola plant and waste removal systems at the start of each shift for defects or wear. Carries out routine cleaning and inspection or reports to maintenance.
  • Monitors the combustion system, furnace operation, spinning machine, binder, water, and wool collection processes. Makes necessary adjustments to maintain a stable process via the group standard Win CC operating systems.
  • Iron tapping in accordance with the factory instructions (Every shift).
  • Conduct weekly routine maintenance of furnace - Drop furnace contents, re-brick & replace siphon
  • Organise the workforce in the area to ensure the department can achieve its objectives in terms of safety, quality, efficiency and good housekeeping in accordance with the 6S system of work.
Curing OvenThe processThe primary fleece is uniformly layered into the desired thickness and conveyed to the curing oven.The wool is cured as it passes through the oven by hot air supplied by two natural gas-fired burners.After leaving the oven the wool is conveyed through a cooling section, in preparation for cutting.The product is then marked and cut to size.Responsibilities
  • Checks the schedule at the start of the shift, plans the production run and ensures all the necessary materials are available to produce the scheduled products. Checks the primary fleece, curing oven, cooling zone, cutting section and recycle system atthe start of each shift for defects or wear. Carries out routing cleaning and inspection or reports to maintenance.
  • Monitors the primary wool, curing coven, cooling zone, cutting and recycle operation to ensure all products are produced according to specification. Makes necessary adjustments via the group standard Win CC operating system to ensure products conform tospecification.
  • Starts up, diverts, changes product and shuts down the curing oven in accordance with factory instructions.
  • Operates all ancillary equipment, sets up and applies facing materials in accordance with factory instructions.
  • Ensures quality control inspections are conducted at the correct time intervals, in accordance with the control testing methods, and all data is recorded.
  • Organise the workforce in the area to ensure the department can achieve its objectives in terms of safety, quality, efficiency and good housekeeping in accordance with the 6S system of work.
PackagingThe processThe product is stacked and packaged in polyethylene film and palletized before being transported to storage areas for finished goods.Loading of finished goods into trucks takes place from the loading area either directly off the line or from storageResponsibilities
  • Checks the schedule at the start of the shift and ensures all the necessary materials are available to produce and pack the scheduled products.
  • Checks packaging machines, labellers and recycle system at the start of each shift for defects or wear. Carries out routing cleaning and inspection or reports to maintenance.
  • Operates and monitors packaging machines/labellers to ensure all products are produced and packed according to specification. Makes necessary adjustments via the group standard Win CC operating system to ensure products conform to specification.
  • Responsible for setting machines ready for the next production run and ensuring the recycle system is topped up with waste product as required
  • Ensures quality control inspections are conducted at the correct time intervals, in accordance with the control testing methods, and all data is recorded.
  • Organise the workforce in the area to ensure the department can achieve its objectives in terms of safety, quality, efficiency and good housekeeping in accordance with the 6S system of work.
