Job Description

We are introducing a Pipe Machine Trainee position on each of our 4 shifts, to join our Fabrication department. Please see more details below:Job Purpose & Scope

  • To carry out activities under the supervision of the Fabrication Foreman.
  • To assist in the manufacture of stone wool pipe section products in accordance with the factory instructions, according to the technical specification.
  • To package and deliver the products to distribution.
  • To ensure a safe and clean work environment within the area.
  • The role is a training role with grade 2 opportunity upon completion.
Key Responsibilities & Job Content
  • To learn the process and operation of all pipe machines in the department.
  • Checks the supply areas to ensure the stock of all the materials required are enough to run through the shift.
  • Assists the Pipe Machine Operators in the running of the machines and covers the machine when able too.
  • Changes the band saws on the machine as & when is necessary following all agreed Safety procedures.
  • Operates the local wool supply conveyors according with the factory instructions.
  • Operates the pipe wrapper in accordance with the factory instructions. Ensures all pipes produced on all machines are wrapped to the required standard.
  • Assist with all necessary QC checks at the agreed intervals to ensure CE declarations are met operating the Fabrication Computer network to input all necessary data.
  • Regularly inspects all machines in the job holders control, for defects or wear and reports these to the supervisor or shift maintenance.
  • Make adjustments and minor repairs to the machines in the job holders control, to ensure they are fully optimised.
  • Carries out quality control inspection at the correct time intervals in accordance with the control testing methods and records all data.
  • Packages finished product into cartons ensuring the correct carton is used.
  • Makes sure that all single pipes and cartons are labelled and the details on the label are correct.
  • Operates lifting equipment in accordance with Factory Operating instructions.
  • Ensures that any paperwork or documentation required is correctly completed and legible.
  • Ensures a level of output to maintain any agreed performance targets.
  • Maintains good housekeeping standards in accordance with the 6S system of work.
  • Complies with a safe method of working and reports any potential unsafe practices or hazards. Also adhere to relevant procedures to minimise the risk of fire.
  • Carries out down day cleaning in accordance with the factory instructions.
