Job Description

Our client is looking to recruit an knowledgeable and experienced Imports Analyst to support the imports department with processing and analytical tasks.Role and Responsibilities for the position of Imports Analyst:

  • Helping manage email traffic for a busy imports department, including presenting data to CHIEF or an Agent, ensuring data is correct prior to submission and working to strict deadlines.
  • Updating information into import control documents for internal stakeholders to use
  • Problem solving and creative thinking when presented with bespoke reporting requests.
  • Taking phone calls and resolving problems.
  • Sending important information to agents on time.
  • Validating supplier information to HMRC standards.
  • General administrative duties in line with working in a busy Importers Shipping department dealing with Imports/Exports and Customs warehousing.
  • Experienced required for the position of Imports Analyst
  • A working knowledge & understanding of The Customs Tariff, CPC Codes, Commodity Codes and any associated documents required for the presentation and clearance to CHIEF or an Agent.

  • An understanding of Shipping and the Freight Forwarder industry or an agent/agency.
  • Working knowledge of document flows and requirements.
  • Understand how transit and delivery is achieved on time for shipments.
  • Comfortable liaising regularly with overseas offices, partners or agents.
  • Responsible for arranging and completing all associated paperwork, which documents the nature of goods being imported and that they are legal and legitimate.
  • Imports are generally subject to import quotas, tariffs, trade agreements and HMRC regulations, so your role will involve checking data in this respect.
  • Look at costing jobs and ensuring maximum profitability for the organisation.
  • A specific understanding of Customs warehousing and Transit procedures will be a good to have.
  • The role may involve being asked to manage deadlines and in difficult situations, therefore an element of negotiation is required in order to be able to meet timescales and manage partners’ expectations.
  • Knowledge or experience in the air, road or ocean movements, customs documentation and procedures, warehouse, office and transport procedures, shipping schedules, freight tariffs and rates, ability to raise and complete documentation.
