Summary We are looking for a Senior Building Surveyor with a strong knowledge of historic properties to become part of our team in the Midlands and East of England. This is a rare and special opportunity to apply your professional skillset to some of the region’siconic structures. This role will cover our beautiful places spread across Staffordshire, Derbyshire, and the Peak District. As Senior Building Surveyor, you’ll have line management responsibility for a Building Surveyor.We use a hybrid working model that mixes home, office and on site working. Expect to be onsite at properties at least 3 days a week. Due to the extensive travel required in this role, you will need a full driving licence with access to your own vehicle.This is a permanent role offering a salary in the region of £48,000. What its like to work here Your work will be integrated into our National Trust Consultancy which provides properties with advice and practical support across the full range of conservation and supporter development activities. You’ll bring to the team an in-depth conservation buildingknowledge, a high level of experience and the ability to work at pace in complex technical situations. What youll be doing You’ll be allocated several places that you will act as building surveyor lead for: these will include Kedleston, Longshaw and Shugborough, plus others in due course. While you will manage and support projects at these sites, we seek to match skillsets withthe work needed, so this can mean involvement at other places in region. You’ll work alongside other Building Surveyors and be supported by the wider building surveyor community in the Midlands & East of England and nationally.Whether it’s mansion houses, historic farmsteads, or aspects of civil infrastructure, you’ll be responsible for the provision of an excellent building service, taking work from inception to delivery. Your work will be focussed on larger-scale planned maintenanceand on higher value project work for our in-hand estate (this can be conservation or compliance related). You’ll provide expert advice, and delivery of building work to the highest conservation standards. You’re likely to act as project manager, followingthe NT’s project governance framework and managing external advisers and contractors. You’ll contribute to project planning and lead building conservation condition assessments.Managing relationships with stakeholders is critical. Your internal clients are usually National Trust General Managers and Facilities Managers at local sites. You’ll be involved with other NT specialists, and statutory and local authority officers. You’llbe able to clearly communicate the essential elements of the work and collaborate on finding the best solutions. Who were looking for
