Job Description

Overview and Responsibilities Vocational and Work Experience Coordinator – HedgewayLocation:Pilning, South Gloucestershire, BS35 4JNSalary:£22,925.16 - £25,605.36 (FTE £26,687.00 - £29,807.00)Hours: 40 hours per week – Term time onlyClosing Date: 10th July 2023Aurora Hedgeway is a dynamic and inspiring provision for children and young people aged 7-19 with a primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and related social and communication needs.We offer every student the chance to explore and fulfil their own unique potential. With provision running from Key Stage 2 all the way through to post-16, we are set up to support children and young people at every stage of their academic journey.The main purpose of the role:As our Vocational and Work Experience (WEX) Coordinator you will support the Pastoral team/transition team to increase WEX, Volunteering and Vocational opportunities for Hedgeway students, by supporting the development of a robust network of supportive employers.You will collaborate with the Careers department and facilitate all aspects of work experience programme and have knowledge of Gatsby benchmarks and the transition processes between providers. It is essential that you have knowledge and experience of preparationfor adulthood, Curriculum knowledge, and knowledge of therapeutic approaches to best support students’ needs alongside their EHCP.As part of the Pastoral and transition team the work you do impacts on all areas of the organisation. You are therefore expected to work collaboratively, professionally, and effectively with all areas of the organisation as appropriate.Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.Skills and Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A passion for making better outcomes for students.
  • Experience of working in a similar role in careers guidance or developing employment opportunities.
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy (must include Level 2 qualification in English and Maths)
  • IT literate is imperative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience of working with young people with SEN.
  • Awareness of keeping children / young people and adults safe
  • Confident, outgoing and motivated to succeed.
  • Outstanding organisational skills
  • Ability to manage own time to deal with multiple tasks.
  • High levels of interpersonal ability with excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Discreet, confidential and reliable.
  • Understanding of the School ethos
