Job Description

Aurora Hedgeway is a dynamic and inspiring provision for children and young people aged 7-19 with a primary or secondary diagnosis of Autism and related social and communication needs.We offer every student the chance to explore andfulfil their own unique potential. With provision running from Key Stage 2 all the way through to post-16, we are set up to support children and young people at every stage of their academic journey.The main purpose of the role:As our Occupational Therapist, you will work as part of amulti-disciplinary team within the therapy service based Hedgeway School. You will provide a high standard of occupational therapy assessment and intervention to children and young people, includingadvice and training to relevant parents, carers and professionals in line with proposed treatment plans.You will work autonomously and manage a caseload of children with complex needs, autistic spectrum conditions, sensory needs and attachment difficultiesthat are placed within the specialist education setting.Key duties:Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.   • A recognised degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Member of RCOT
Experience:
  • Previous experience in an occupational therapy role
  • Experience of Multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency working
  • Knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of children by advanced clinical reasoning
  • Knowledge of the management of children who have autistic spectrum conditions, sensory needs and attachment difficulties, including evidence based strategies.
  • Experience of using sensory strategies to support children and young people.
