Job Description

Aurora Hedgeway is a dynamic and inspiring provision for 7-19 year olds with complex communication and associated difficulties.Puttingstudents needs first, because they know that once they understand the young peoples personal needs and individuallearning styles they can provide the right level of support to enable them to learn more effectively and achieve their full potential. Working with students to prepare them for adulthood, whether that be further education, training or employment.The mainpurpose of the role:The purpose of the role is to plan, provide and further develop an integrated Speech and Language Therapy serviceto the pupils atHedgewaySchool, covering communication needsKey duties:Duties will vary, you must expectto diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.Successful candidate qualities:Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of a range of therapy interventions in learning disability
  • Knowledge ofbehaviour support
  • Knowledge of the impact of trauma and adverse early childhood experiences on communication
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Conditions
  • Have a clear understanding of relevant protection procedures and health and safety procedures including safeguarding and manual handling procedures.
Experience:
  • Have at least two years post-graduate experience working as a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Working with children or young people with learning disabilities
  • Working with children or young people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition
  • Have experience or knowledge of delivering provision through the EHCP process
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Working withchildren or young people with SEMH/complex needs (desirable)
  • Working with children or young people with challenging behaviour(desirable)
Requirements of the role:
  • To be a registered member of RCSLT and HCPC
  • To hold a professional Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent.
  • To workwithin the RCSLT clinical guidelines and HCPC standards.
