Just Life Sciences are working with a family-operated, yet global business, who pride themselves on ensuring staff are given the autonomy to thrive in their respective areas and an entrepreneurial, free-thinking culture is encouraged inall functions of the Life Sciences division.A unique opportunity to develop an advanced knowledge base in both the design and use of bioprocess purification, with extensive exposure to industry-relevant downstream processing skills.ROLE DESCRIPTIONThe Applications Scientist will join a team providing both internal and external expertise in column chromatography and downstream processing of biopharmaceuticals. The ideal candidate will be well skilled in downstream protein purification by column chromatographyand associated impurities analysis (ELISA, HPLC, UV/vis).The role involves managing complex projects and working closely with customers, management, sales and other research/technical staff, with regular reporting in both oral and written formats.The role also involves writing papers for scientific publications with the potential for presenting at industry-relevant conferences globally.The successful candidate will work with Bioprocessing, designed specifically for the purification of monoclonal antibodies.These are used in the treatment of a range of ailments such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. Manufactured in a purpose-built facility - one of the largest of its kind in the world.Qualifications/ExperienceEssentialDegree in chemistry, materials, biochemistry or related subject.Comprehensive knowledge or experience of downstream process development including relevant analytical assays (electrophoresis, ELISA, HPLC)Experience in the use and testing of chromatography resins including extensive use of AKTA instrumentsExperience in method developmentAbility to write scientific and technical reports as well good oral presentational skills with a proven track record of scientific publicationsBe able and willing to handle hazardous chemicals according to documented H&S documentation and processesUse of MS office, project management tools, scientific computer software including DoEDesirable:PhD degree in chemistry, materials, biochemistry or related subject. Knowledge of upstream processing in the biopharmaceutical industryExperience in large scale column packing.Experience in virus purificationAt least 2 years industrial experience Knowledge of appropriate H&S legislation and industry standards including ISO9001/14001/OHAS 18001.Interested then please email your CV to justyn at justlifesciences dot com
