Job Description

Teacher of DramaGrade: UQ/NQT/MPS/UPSPermanentSeptember 2021This is a really exciting opportunity for an ambitious, dynamic and well-qualified teacher of Drama to have a real impact on the educational experiences of the young people of Lewisham. You will join a school at its earliest stages of the schools developmentand will therefore have a unique opportunity to contribute to our vision and develop your career. They a seeking to appoint on a permanent basis in September 2021.Since first opening in 2017, the school has grown one year group at a time and in September 2020, moved into brand-new, purpose-built accommodation near Lewisham. The school is now oversubscribed in Year 7 and will open its sixth form in 2022/23.As part of a thriving Expressive Arts Faculty, the Drama Department offers an array of extra-curricular opportunities to extend classroom provision. They are dedicated to staging at least two productions a year, one of which is very inclusive and encouragesstudents across all Key Stages to be involved as either a performer or designer.The Performing Arts is a well-resourced curriculum area with a generous budget. In addition to the resources in the main classrooms we have three practice rooms, an industry standard recording studio, control and live room, an iMac suite which is incrediblywell resourced with Logic Pro X, Ableton Live and Ableton launchpads to offer advanced study in composition, sequencing and performance. There is also a professional theatre and control room, well-equipped drama studio and a wealth of instruments to encouragepractical performance and peripatetic tuition.The successful applicant will be an outstanding classroom practitioner and a great communicator with an excellent knowledge of KS3, GCSE and A Level Drama.To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • Be a Teacher of Drama who holds QTS status or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Have excellent knowledge of the Drama curriculum.
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure, Overseas Police Clearance (if applicable) and professional reference checks.
  • Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained.
  • You must have the legal right to work in the UK.
