You will join the Thin Film Technology Group which is part of the global R&D function and is responsible for developing new coated products and processes to underpin the NSG Group’s aim of growing its value added business.The successful Technologist will work as part of a team investigating new coatings deposited by sputter coating. Working on several projects which may be short term incremental developments or longer term broader research projects, you will be responsible for the deposition and screening of new coatings using laboratory equipment and will evaluate the performance of these coatings using a wide range of tests to assess them against international and internal standards.The successful candidate will work within a multinational and multi-functional project team environment using a stage gate development process.With a strong academic background and a degree in physics, material science or chemistry (although consideration will be given to candidates having other technical disciplines or prior industrial experience), you will be an innovative, self motivated team player who enjoys an active involvement in development and problem-solving activities.A practical person who enjoys working both in a lab environment and in production facilities, you will have experience of Microsoft Applications and a willingness to travel to manufacturing facilities in Europe as part of your role; experience of with thin film coating technology would be advantageous.A full UK driving licence and car ownership would be an advantage due to limited public transport to the site.The NSG Group is a global leader in glass manufacturing in three business areas: Architectural, Automotive and Technical Glass.Our mission is to be the global leader in innovative high-performance glass and glazing solutions, working safely and ethically.Closing date for applications: 29th February 2020
