With just over a third of our sales in Europe, around a third are in Japan and the rest primarily in North and South America,South East Asia and China.We’re now looking for a newly qualified Mechanical Technician to join our R&D Engineering team.The R&D function has a large variety of equipment which is used for the development of new processes and products, in support of Architectural and Automotive technology areas such as melting, coatings, inspection, glass handling, laminating, and shaping.Equipment ranges in size from small-scale laboratory instruments through to large prototyping machines and covers a very wide variety of engineering technologies including machinery, rotating equipment, heating systems, precision instrumentation and laboratoryequipment. R&D Engineering has a responsibility to maintain and support this equipment, and as part of a multi-functional teams, to develop new processes and equipment.This role is workshop based and has specific responsibility for mechanical trades supports to the R&D function, primarily on the Lathom site, but occasionally at other UK and overseas facilities. Day-to-day, the role involves fault-finding and routine maintenance,along with a requirement to support new concept/design work and modifications to existing equipment.Experience of conveyors, fans and fabrication processes are preferred, but not essential. What’s more important is completion of a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship / HNC or equivalent and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinaryteam. You’ll be highly flexible / adaptable, demonstrate initiative and be able to work with Senior Engineers and R&D Technologists.A current forklift truck licence would be advantageous, although training can be provided if necessary.Benefits
