The NSG Group is a global leader in glass manufacturing in four business areas: Architectural, Automotive, Creative Technologies and Technical Glass.Our mission is to be the global leader in innovative high-performance glass and glazing solutions, working safely and ethically.Were now looking for a Technologist at the NSG European Technical Centre to work in the Materials and Products team.The Materials and Products team are responsible for the development of new products for the architectural and automotive strategic business units, where function, performance and durability are key, and stringent standards and/or customer specificationsneed to be met.As our Technologist, youll be involved in sample manufacture, performing detailed measurements and assessments, and for carrying out and reporting detailed test plans that can last from a few days to years. Specialist instruments and dedicated test equipmentwill be used routinely, and full training will be provided. Youll also be responsible for some items of equipment; overseeing service schedules, ensuring calibration and any other routine maintenance activities are carried out in a timely manner.With increasing experience there will be the opportunity to develop new test methods and measurements, to contribute to investment plans to maintain and enhance test capability, and to influence the future direction of development projects. The role mayinvolve process development and production trials on manufacturing sites and therefore overseas travel may be required, typically 1 week or less in duration. In addition, the role will involve general housekeeping arrangements in laboratories, and ensuringrelevant HSE and Quality system documents are up to date.Were looking for someone who is qualified, as a minimum, to NVQ Level 3 or preferably HND/HNC in a relevant discipline e.g., Engineering or Physical Sciences and who has experience of working in a laboratory environment, with experience of spectral measurementsor weathering tests being advantageous.Youll demonstrate a strong attention to detail and take personal responsibility and ownership for achieving results and objectives, and for your own and colleagues safety. With good oral and written communication skills, youll be competent in the useof IT, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel being beneficial.Knowledge of glass products or processing is a benefit, but full training will be provided.Benefits
