Job Description

Newsprinters are the chosen manufacturer for many of the UK’s well known and respected newspapers. Operating from our three purpose built sites at Broxbourne, Knowsley and Eurocentral, the Newsprinters network can offer National and Local newspapers the right print and distribution solution for their needs.Your team; Your role will be an essential part of the Newsprinters production team’s success in producing printed copy to customer standards. Newsprinters Knowsley are dedicated to delivering the highest standards of quality to our customers and to deliver on time every time.Your role; You will work with the Print Number One in setting up and running the press whilst maintaining quality controls and standards, working to set waste, production and efficiency levels. The Print Number Two will also be proactive in ensuring cleaning and maintenance requirements of the press and work area are undertaken and completed to the required standard. Company values must be demonstrated at all times, taking responsibility for performance, health and safety, quality, continual improvement, reporting and development.Day to day you will;

  • Responsible for maintaining the quality and performance throughout the production run of all titles, in-line with editorial and customer expectations.
  • Working collaboratively in group settings on problems relating to product quality.
  • Exercises sound operational judgement, either independently, or under the general direction of the Print Number One, Production Managers or Operations Managers.
  • Perform work activities requiring strong communication skills, cooperation, instruction and persuasion within a fast paced environment.
  • In conjunction with the Print Number One, the Print Number Two provides technical assistance and support to the Production Managers, including the management of materials, records and workplace information. Ensuring maintenance, pre/post run checks and cleaning standards are met for all work areas.
  • Provides technical advice and in the absence of the Print Number One, leadership to the press team and to associated staff working with the press team adhering to the principles of team working to gain maximum efficiency and flexibility. The Print 2 will be expected to "run" the press in the absence of a Print 1.
  • Attend relevant training and development activities to support learning in the role and personal development.
  • Provides an active role in the maintenance and development of Health & Safety activities, ensuring that area and Team standards meet Company, legal and ethical requirements.
  • To understand and comply with all Health & Safety Roles and Responsibilities, report any unsafe acts or conditions using appropriate channels.
  • This is not an extensive list and others tasks and responsibilities may be required to complete your role.
  • What we’re looking for from you;
  • Has an in depth knowledge, combined with practical experience, of the lithographic process, press operation, set-up, colour desk, plating up procedures and reel room operation/ procedures
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience of MAN PECOM print control system is preferred.
  • A formal Print Qualification and/or Print Apprenticeship is preferred.
