Job Description

LV Logistics currently has an opportunity for a Customs Controllerto join our dynamic team based in Newcastle. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return will receive a competitive salarydepending on experience plus benefits including pension and healthcare.LV Logistics are a market leader in the shipping and transport industry, with 10 UK offices and many others in strategic locations across the globe.As ourCustoms Controller you willdeliver and develop our managed service on customs compliance.Your responsibilities as our Customs Controllerwill include:

  • Preparing & processing import & export entries in accordance with paperwork & clearance instructions received from clients & registering within internal systems.
  • Billing out of applicable duties and taxes to customers & monitoring receipt within the required timeframe.
  • Handling of any clearance queries including keeping operational staff fully informed of any holds, exams or other potential delays to shipments.
  • Monitoring compliance with all aspects of customs regulations and liaising with all Customs departments, including those with specific responsibility, e.g. Port Health etc.
  • Assist and guide customers to ensure compliance with the regulations.
  • Provide correspondence to customers and suppliers via the appropriate method
  • Use of Port Community Systems (Destin8 / CNS).
  • Update tracking schedules where necessary/appropriate.
  • Checking, advising or applying for import/export licenses as required.
What were looking for in our Customs Controller:
  • The successful candidate will be experienced in customs processes and legislation - either in-house or with a freight forwarder. They will preferably have knowledge of Port Community Systems (Destin8 / CNS) and will see this as an opportunity to lead onthe development of customs clearance as a key part of the customer offer from LV Logistics.
