Job Description

Our market-leading client specialises in the design and manufacture of a wide range of specialist engineered parts for the aerospace, rail, marine and power generation industries.They are currently seeking an experienced Materials Planner to join their manufacturing team based at one of their production sites in central Leicester.Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager you will interpret customer schedules to ensure components are available for assembly all within strict QCD parameters.Specific duties include -

  • Schedule and plan the supply of all the components ahead of production required date
  • Plan and set up minimum safety stock levels considering all necessary factors (supply bottleneck, production halt etc)
  • Monitor regularly inventory levels
  • Use the MRP system of the company to ensure data is accurate and up to date
  • Continuously monitor MRP system and prepare relevant quarter and annual forecasts (master planning, orders synchronisation)
  • Establish Kanban inventory management system ensuring that necessary stock is available at required times, ensuring bottlenecks in the workflow are avoided (internal & external)
  • Ownership of processes to improve flow, visibility, productivity, inventory management
  • Liaise with the engineering department for necessary BOM updates
  • Incorporate necessary downstream actions (stock levels, inventory management) coming from Engineering Change Notes (ECNs)
  • Prepare the Work Instructions for the production team against acknowledged orders
  • Support inventory stock-takes when required (x2/year)
  • Liaise with purchasing department when required to ensure orders are in place according to demand
  • Engage with suppliers; monitoring and evaluating their performance according to lead times, delivery times, quality and cost
  • Effective communication with all stakeholders internally and externally (suppliers,customers etc)
  • Ensure defective products follow rejection path following IATF16949 procedure
  • Explore ways for continuous development/optimisation of the processes
  • Support purchasing department; especially on expediting (raw material, components, and tooling)
