Job Description

Our client is a company well respected for both the products they design and the level of expertise they provide. They are going through an exciting period of growth and are now seeking an Electronics Design Engineer to join them in Exeter to support the busy engineering team.You will get the opportunity to be involved in the whole project lifecycle, from concept and specification, design through prototyping and testing to preparation for manufacture. You’ll work with the cross-disciplinary engineering team, liaising with mechanical and software engineers to achieve the overall product design. There’s always a new challenge in the role, from high temperature design techniques, design for compliance with Explosive Atmosphere standards (like ATEX) to instrumentation engineering and data science.Responsibilities:

  • Design of electronic/electrical equipment.
  • Designing PCB layouts.
  • Writing firmware/software.
  • Assembly of electronic/electrical prototypes.
  • Wiring of electrical assemblies.
  • Purchasing specification.
  • Draw up BOMs and cost projects & assemblies
  • Engineering calculations, eg thermal management of electronics.
  • Preparing quality assurance documentation in accordance with the QMS.
  • Design and manufacture review with the Management Team.
  • Assembly and despatch.
  • Work-in-progress inspection.
  • Dealing with clients’ technical queries.
  • Helping to train other employees.
  • Writing of technical literature.
  • Maintenance of technical files.
  • Requirements:
  • Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent with a minimum 2:1 or equivalent OR working towards a degree in Electronics Engineering with a predicted minimum 2:1 or equivalent.
  • A keen and responsible attitude to work and an ability to show initiative in all responsibilities and tasks.
  • Numeracy, accuracy, attention to detail.
  • The ability to follow through a task to its successful conclusion.
  • The ability to learn and absorb new information and training.
  • PCB CAD design tools e.g. Altium.
  • At least one firmware/software language e.g. C (for Microchip processors ideally).
  • Soldering (including high temperature) proficiency.
