Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a fantastic interim role within local government for a Technician for the Highways department.The main purpose of this role is to support the design and delivery of schemes relating to highway infrastructure to support the relevant service area.This is being recruited for on a temporary basis and is expected to go on until at least April2024. Paying £13.70ph, this position will be to start ASAP and will be workingfull-time hours.Corporate ResponsibilitiesTo ensure that the services are delivered for the benefit of the people of Leicestershire.To maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with customers and colleagues within the team and across the service.To ensure activities are delivered in the most efficient and effective manner as possible.Responsible for protecting and managing information securely, and reporting breaches or suspected information security breaches, in line with Council policies.To support the undertaking of design and delivery of highway infrastructure programmes and projects across the service area. This may include estimating, consultations, contract management and supervision or administrative processes, ensuring that thesemeet current standards and that schemes are delivered to time, quality and costTo assist in the preparation and presentation of general information, documents, projects and reports relating to the work of the service area, and to assist in the research and analysis of dataTo assist in the preparation, monitoring and review of relevant budgetsTo ensure the effective and efficient provision of appropriate customer focused, high quality services as part of their role in accordance withCouncil policies, Government and legislative requirementsTo work in accordance with the departmental business planning process to drive continuous improvement in the delivery of Departmental and Service outcomes; reporting on progress as requiredTo be responsible for maintaining effective partnerships and working relationships with statutory, voluntary, private agencies and communities to promote and meet the Council’s and Department’s services and objectivesPlease note:

  • The nature of the work may involve the post holder carrying out work outside of normal working hours.
  • The nature of the work may involve the post holder carrying out work at different locations than their designated base.
  • The post holder may be required to attend, from time to time, training courses, conferences, seminars or other meetings as required by his/her own training needs and the needs of the service.
