We are recruiting for a NRSWA Inspector to join an established and friendly team within a local authority in Leicestershire. Working on a temporary basis, this role is expected to continue until at least April but may be extended beyond this time.As a NRSWA Inspector, you will ensure that the works are done in accordance with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA), the Highways Act 1980 and other relevant legislation, codes of practice and policies.You will also liaise with internal and external stakeholders, respond to customer complaints and queries, and support the resolution of any issues or disputes arising from the works.Key Duties and Responsibilities:· Carry out core, sample, routine, target and third party complaint inspections of works undertaken on the highway to ensure compliance with relevant Acts, codes of practice, policies, contract specifications and required quality standards1234.· Record and report any defects, non-compliances, contraventions or safety hazards identified during the inspections and issue notices, directions or penalties as appropriate1234.· Download inspection data collected either electronically or in paper form and update the relevant systems and databases2.· Meet representatives from utilities companies to agree on section 72, 74 & 81 defects and remedials2.· Supervise the activity of utilities on the highway network and advise them on the technical aspects of the NRSWA including materials specification and construction methods detailed in the NRSWA Code of Practice for reinstatements25.· Check that both supervisors and operatives present on-site carry NRSWA accreditation25.· Ensure that the Statutory Undertakers adhere to Health and Safety legislation in relation to both on site working practices and aspects associated with work on the highway and safety of the travelling public.In particular, ensure that Chapter8 of the Traffic Signs Manual is adhered to25.· Close down site contravening any legislation to Health and Safety2.· Assist in the development of traffic management measures as required2.· Deal with matters as required by the NRSWA legislation2.· Support the resolution of customer complaints and queries by providing detailed information2.Qualifications and Skills:· NRSWA supervisors ticket or equivalent qualification134· Experience in street works inspection and enforcement or related field· Knowledge of the Highways Act 1980, NRSWA Act 1991, Traffic Management Act 2004, codes of practice and current legislation as it relates to the Councils responsibilities2· Ability to use electronic devices and systems for data collection and reporting· Good communication and interpersonal skills· Ability to work independently and as part of a team· Ability to deal with challenging situations and resolve conflicts· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines· Full UK driving licence
