Job Description

If so, you might be the perfect candidate for the NRSWA Inspector role!As a NRSWA Inspector, you will work with the Network Management Service to inspect activities carried out on the highway in relation to regulations, statutory guidance and codes of practice.You will ensure that the works are carried out in accordance with the standards and specifications, and take actions and apply penalties when necessary to enforce these controls.Some of your main duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Building strong relationships and working in consultation with key stakeholders and representatives to support them in identifying current and future learning needs
  • Inspecting, reporting and taking remedial action on any reported network issues, as instructed or notified by the Network Coordinator or Technician
  • Investigating, reporting and following up remedial action on any damage to highway infrastructure caused by contractors during their work
  • Undertaking routine sample inspections of works carried out by utility and Highways
  • Monitoring works promoter compliance with NRSWA and initiating any action when instance of non-compliance is found
  • Supporting the coordination process through dialogue or meetings, on site if required, with a works promoter to discuss and agree any actions or controls for the works
  • Supporting the Network Coordinator in the review and approval of traffic management applications and plans
  • Supporting the Technician in the reconciliation and payment of TMA/NRSWA fees and charges resulting from inspections
  • Supporting the collection and analysis of Network Management data for the evaluation of the Service and network performance by the Network Performance Officer
  • Maintaining a fundamental knowledge of a wide range of utility and highways work terminology and practices regarding all aspects of the work from inception stage to final reinstatement
  • Ensuring that Health and Safety legislation and the “Safety at Street Works and Road Works” code of practice are adhered to by those undertaking works
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • NVQ4 or equivalent, e.g. BTEC Higher in Civil Engineering
  • Experience of working within the highways maintenance or civil engineering sectors
  • Experience of communicating with a range of audiences, including presentation and telephone skills
  • Experience of interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports and providing technical advice or drawings
  • Experience of engagement with customers, including attending and producing materials for meetings and exhibitions
  • Experience of problem investigation and assessment
  • Knowledge of current highways legislation, including the New Roads & Street Works Act and the Highway Act
  • Experience of high
This is a full time post, 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday, hybrid working is available with one day based in the office and site visits when required.The pay rate is £14.43per hour PAYE or 18.23via umbrella.If you are interested in this role, please apply today and get ready for an immediate interview!
