Job Description

Flood Risk OfficerCheshirePermanentBriefFlood Risk Officer needed for a leading highways service provider based in the Cheshire area who are looking to employ a knowledgeable Flood Risk Officer to assist the Flood Risk Manager in the delivery of the flood risk functions, duties and responsibilitiesto enable delivery of the Cheshire East Flood Risk Management Strategy.What the role entails:As a Flood Risk Officer you will be responsible for:

  • To assist the Flood Risk Manager in the delivery of the flood risk functions, duties and responsibilities to enable delivery of the Cheshire East Flood Risk Management Strategy
  • Provide technical advice on the implementation of the Surface Water Management Plan and Local Flood Risk Strategy, including advising on the requirements for flood risk management, revenue and capital improvements and mitigation that can be implementedthrough the statutory planning process
  • Collaboration with strategic partners such as Environment Agency and United Utilities as required
  • Assist with regulation and technical adequacy of new development and drainage works activity
  • To assist in the investigation of flood events and to report and publish details of relevant flooding risk
  • To identify, register and maintain of critical structures or features considered to be a local flood risk
What experience you need to be a successfulFlood Risk Officer:
  • Delivering surface water, groundwater and fluvial related improvements and projects
  • Corresponding with members of the public, Council Members, MPs and stakeholders using all forms ofcommunication
  • Understanding of legislation and procedures / guidance relevant to Flood Risk Management
  • Experience of working in a technical flood risk function associated with the delivery and design of flood risk and drainage improvements, planning & development building control, highway or transportation disciplines in a technical support role
  • Understanding of the legislation and technical requirements relevant to Flood Risk Management and other related disciplines
  • Experiencing in completing drainage investigations, relating to several flood sources
Desireable Experience
  • Knowledge of hydrological design drainage design software such as Microdrainage and FEH / FSR
  • Experience of working with computerised systems associated with management of technical data and information; use of GIS and/or AutoCad
