Job Description

Our client is a major and successful organisation and is one of the top performing companies in their sector within the UK, serving substantial number of customers across the region. It is part of a large Group, which comprises a number of other companies,including engineering and construction, property development and waste management and renewable energy services.They now have a great opportunity for a recently qualified, or experienced Buyer to join the Purchasing Department.This is a diverse and varied role which involves supporting the business needs by delivering great customer service and savings across a range of electrical and mechanical goods and services.As an M&E Buyer youll work as part of an integrated team to successfully deliver a wide range of procurement needs whilst working collaboratively with a team of Purchasing professionals.This is a dynamic and varied role which will provide an opportunity for an individual to expand their Purchasing skills and knowledge.As an M&E Buyer, it will be your role to support and work closely with key business stakeholders to deliver an innovative, company-wide procurement service that meets user requirements, increases productivity and reduces operating and capital spend.Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure goods and services required by field-based operations staff are available at the agreed time and place, meet the required standards, and represent best value for money.
  • Sourcing a mix of mechanical and electrical components and equipment and services, utilising frameworks, and approved suppliers agreements as appropriate
  • Negotiation with suppliers on spot purchases
  • Determining the optimum supply route, utilising stores and merchants as appropriate
  • Effectively plan customer requirements to achieve expected delivery dates
  • To act as the link between supplier and internal customers for all issues/queries relating to supply of goods, faulty goods, returns and service failures
  • Negotiating with suppliers to ensure best value is achieved
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships (existing and new), in order to achieve best value is achieved from suppliers, including price, delivery time and quality.
  • Keep up to date with products, specifications and suppliers
  • Raise and manage supplier non-conformance, such as poor product quality or delivery days
  • Attend meetings, visit sites as appropriate to fully understand the requirements and objectives of the business areas.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Key Experience:
  • Previous purchasing experience in a similar role
  • Experience of electrical, mechanical/composites commodities
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Professional, outgoing, enthusiastic with passion and determination to succeed

  • High levels of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritise workloads
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to make judgments

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
  • Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply qualification is desirable
  • Or working towards membership of CIPS or equivalent qualification
  • Working knowledge of regulated procurement
