Job Description

We are looking for a Stores Assistant to work within our Store at Carlton, for this role you will be an enthusiastic and effective team worker, you will be open to change and new ideas and be able to communicate verbally and in writing. You will have goodorganisational skills and have the ability to work on your own initiative. You will have good IT skills including excel and word, in particular outlook. You must have a good understanding of health and safety in the workplace.The Role- Picking stock materials in our Stores ready for delivery out to our workforce- Operating an electronic ordering system via email- Maintain good housekeeping, ensuring all rubbish is cleared away and all items are stored correctly ensuring health and safety procedures are followed- Maintain a computerised stock control system- Accepting and unloading deliveries from our suppliers including bulky, heavy itemsThis role will include moving and lifting materials around the Store.This role is based within a warehouse environment where PPE and safety footwear must be worn at all times, these items will be provided.Payrate: £10.01Start date: 29/06/2021End date: 30/09/2021Working hours: Full time (7.4h per day, 5 days per week)Address: Industry Road, Carlton, Barnsley, S71 3PQDuties and responsibilities:

  • To work in a warehouse environment picking, unloading deliveries (including heavy bulky items), ordering, storing, stock checking and distributing materials, plant and equipment.
  • To liaise with Operations Staff to plan effectively for the provision of materials, plant and equipment.
  • To resolve queries and enquiries, chase up outstanding orders and purchases including liaising with operational staff, procurement staff, suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • To participate in any inspections, Audits and reviews of Berneslai Homes. To assist in the implementation of the outcomes of such reviews.
  • To report any damaged stock to the Stores Supervisor and assist in investigating any stock variances.
  • To assist in regular stock checks of items within Stores, and to assist with any van stock checks as required.
  • To be responsible for issuing and returning plant and tools to Operatives from the Plant store, maintaining an accurate computerised record and reporting any faulty items to the Stores Supervisor
  • To maintain a computerised stock control system and assist in the development and introduction of new systems.
  • To maintain good housekeeping, ensuring all rubbish is cleared away and all items are stored correctly ensuring health and safety procedures are followed
To assist in developing and administering an effective delivery service across construction services, to deliver stock to drop off points around the borough on a rota system.Experience:4 GCSEs (Grade A-C) or equivalent qualification (essential)NVQ Level 2, Warehousing and Storage (desirable)Please submit your CV and one of our Talent Sourcing Specialist will be in touch shortly to dicsuss further.
