Job Description

Design TechnicianMelton Mowbray (outskirts)PermanentSalary: negotiableWorking hours: full time / hybrid workingOur client is looking for a Design Technician to work in a hybrid role but must be able to commute to the outskirts of Melton Mowbray possibly 2/3 days a week. You will be primarily involved in supporting the Technical Manager to deliver the design/technicalservices for the Pre-Cast Beams while also giving assistance/support in document management/controlling to managers in other disciplines.Duties for Design Technician to include:

  • Organise and exercise document controlling activities for all the documentation related to the project across the SHQE, Production, Operations and Technical departments (RFIs, comments, revisions, etc)
  • Assist in the revision of 2D/3D documentation of the project to produce Pre-Cast Beams
  • Give structure and organisation to the project documentation, make the team members aware of these changes
  • Troubleshoot any faults or problems in the document controlling process and identify areas for improvement or training
  • Engage with design teams and drive a continuous improvement culture
  • Assist in improving the efficiency and quality of the design processes and procedures within all areas of manufacturing.
  • Assisting managers from different disciplines in RFIs related to design/technical aspects of the project
  • Providing strong and effective cross-functional links and communication between all departments.
  • Coordinating the project information from the office to the workshop production team.
Skills required for Design Technician:
  • Experience in document controlling (contractors)
  • Experience in CAD/Design (AutoCAD/Tekla)
  • MS office with advanced Excel skills
