Job Description

Five Education is working with a primary school in Winterbourne and is recruiting a Classroom Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 3 aged child. The young child has Special Educational Needs and has a diagnosis of Autism. This particular school are looking for candidates who have experience supporting children with SEN. This role is due to start ASAP and would potentially be long-term. Responsibilities and duties:Supporting the child with their learning and developmentEnsuring that the student can access the curriculum - which is not at the expected levels for their ageHelping the child to feel settled and comfortable in schoolSet tasks that challenge and engage the student with a balance of support and independenceHelping to develop social skillsCommunicating with other staff and ensuring a consistent approachSupporting the child in a classroom and possibly around the school Assisting the child to remain focused and on taskImplementing behaviour management tools Ensuring the welfare of the student is paramountEssential Criteria:A flexible and resourceful approach At least 12 months experience supporting children/ young people in an educational, care or coaching environmentIdeally, you will have experience supporting children or young people with SENHave a right to work in the UK (a valid visa)Two recent child/vulnerable adult based references and relevant DBS/Police checksAble to work 8.30 am to 3.15 pm, 2-5 days per week term time onlyAccess to bicycle, car or near main bus routes.
