Job Description

Welder - Pipe Welder required in Whitstable, Kent. 4 day week! Monday to Thursday 39 Hrs + Overtime. Salary negotiable dependent on experience.5 weeks holiday (plus bank hols), Pension, Life Assurance.Our client is a successful manufacturer of large pumping systems for marine applications, used around the world. They have been established for over 100 years, offering excellent prospects.We are looking for a pipe & plate welder to assemble and maintain piping systems and assemblies with high precision.The candidate must be familiar with multi positional welding and the TIG root with Gas Shielded FCAW or SMAW welding processesThe candidates responsibilities will include inspecting materials, maintaining tools, performing pre-welding preparations, welding components according to specifications and diligently following safety systems.To be successful, you must be able to study and understand an engineering drawing, understand relevant welding documentation, set up the welding equipment and make a good weld. You must be able to work with great attention to detail and must be able to delivera consistent, smooth and to specification weld.Welder Responsibilities:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and welding specifications.
  • Understanding the required tools, materials and welding methods.
  • Assembling, welding and repairing pipe components and assemblies according to specifications.
  • Inspecting materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Maintaining supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Preparing working materials by clamping, cutting or applying chemical solutions to piping.
  • Examining completed welds to ensure they are free of defects, smooth, and functional.
  • Observing the company safety systems.
Welder Requirements:
  • Evidence of previous, recent codings is required (new codings will be set up here).
  • Formal qualifications or a completed apprenticeship is required.
  • Knowledge of ASME IX, AWS D1.1 & BS EN ISO 15614 systems will be advantageous.
  • Experience as a pipe & plate welder.
  • Experience of heavy industry welding (we work on a range fromto 36 diameters and parts up to 20000kg)
  • Knowledge and experience with welding equipment and processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent technical skills and the ability to interpret drawings and welding specifications.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Physical dexterity.
