Job Description

Job Title: General Operative / Sheet Metal WorkerLocation: Whitstable, KentSalary: up to £16.00 per hour (dependant on experience)Hours: Monday to Friday 7.30am - 3.30pmOur Client:Our client are a family run business that manufacture and install their products around the UK. Working with all UK suppliers they are renowned for their quality and commitment to their customers.Role Summary:Your role as General Operative will be supporting the busy manufacturing team on the shop floor. Responsible for ensuring orders are completed in a timely manner and to the highest quality.Benefits:

Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:
  • Understand drawings and blueprints to determine project requirements.
  • Select appropriate materials as per the job sheet.
  • Cut metals down to correct size and shape for each project.
  • Weld components together to build a completed unit.
  • Use the punch machine to make holes in the materials.
  • Use the press brake machine to fold metals as per requirements.
  • Work as part of the production team to assembly completed units as per customer specification.
  • Carry out quality checks on products to ensure they meet customer specification and industry regulations.
  • Ensure components are finished, deburred and are safe to be assembled.
Experience and skills required for this position:
  • TIG Welding experience is essential (at least 1 years experience)
  • Experience with Sheet Metal Work
  • Ideally you will have worked in a manufacturing / production environment
  • Be able to work in a team as well as on your own initiative
  • Due to the nature of the business you will be required to have a security clearance check carried out
